My apologies to MacNod, but I just gotta tell you this.
My mate, Don, was telling me about a local Council Meeting. Now, I gotta tell you that in this “Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty”, we have been blessed with some excellent small hotels, based right on the coastline. All four - the Osbourne, Langland Bay, Caswell Bay, and St. Anne’s Court Hotels - were well-known tourist features, which figured prominently in all photographs of this area. Over the past few years, our cash-mad local politicos have permitted all four hotels on our small stretch of coast called Mumbles (including Langland and Caswell Bays), to be demolished, and luxury flats built on the sites!
A developer now wants to build a monstrosity of a hotel on our No. 1 beauty spot - the Mumbles Pier! (Just to the left of the above photograph.)
Guess what our measly-mouthed local politicians said at the Meeting? “We desperately need hotel accomodation in this area”. They can smell money, money, money!
Hypocrites! Bloody hypocrites!
