Police Racial Discrimination!

One of Britain’s largest police forces has been accused of discriminating against white men - and recruiting and promoting black and female officers.

West Midlands police chiefs have pledged to increase the numbers of black and minority groups in their ranks to 12 per cent, and increase the amount of women in the force to 42 per cent.

And under the controversial new deal the targets will grow by 2 per cent every year until 2012.

But ex-officer John Mellor, who sat on national policing boards during his 34-year-career says the move is a mistake.

Mr Mellor said “We don’t want targets, we want people who can do the job and do it properly.

“The police authority have taken legal advice but I think it is a terrible mistake.”

All forces were ordered to recruit ethnic minority officers after the 1999 report into the horrific murder of black teen Stephen Lawrence which alleged institutionalised racism in the police.

The number has since doubled to around four per cent.

But several forces have recently had to fight accusations of racial discrimination from white applicants.

In 2006 Gloucestershire Police was ordered to compensate white victims of the strategy and other forces had to offer all excluded applicants the chance to re-apply.

Dickiebo; This is pure and blatant racism but……..it doesn’t matter. ‘Cos it’s only discriminating against white men! Quite simply, the best people for the job should get it. Anything else will perpetuate the current position of having inferior officers wrecking what was once the finest police in the world!
