Isn’t this writing the wrong way round? I thought that Chinese writing ran from the right-hand edge of the page to the left…

“Work is not so good, welfare is nearly non-existent. About 10 people a day are injured, but I am careful.
“Three of us have opened a small store and the business is not bad. My English is not so good but I can understand most of what the white people say.
“I hope that one day I will be successful, and so will work hard. I will be careful with my health.
“How are you all? I miss you and hope to see you soon.”
[Although a bit brief, it does indeed answer the question set ]

I was going to show off and say ‘thank you’ in Cantonese but a). Never too sure whether it’s [sounds like] doh chei or [sounds like] m’goi lei, or b). as you’ve just noticed, I haven’t the faintest on how to spell the words.
Sorry, but…thanks.

Both mean thank you: the former for gifts and things that require big/formal thanks; the latter for minor services.
You’re welcome.
And left to right is the usual way, these days.
Top to bottom used to be the appropriate style, and yes, I have seen it written from right to left, but not often nowadays.
